As a realtor I chose to put granite in my home and have come to encounter the positives and negatives to its use. It does not depreciate in value over the years; it is a one of a kind look; and it can possibly add value to your home! The most important quality it holds, is the characteristic that refuses bacterial contamination (: It can take the heat of a pan and it's easy to clean! However, it can be very expensive; it requires intense labor installation; it can crack under pressure (no pun intended). Also...once attached to cabinets, there's no going back, unless you plan on taking a sledgehammer to the place!
